Awards - Knight Center for Environmental Journalism

Each year the Knight Center for Environmental Journalism at MSU gives out three awards to outstanding students.
You don’t have to be enrolled in the environmental journalism program to apply. Students who have taken environmental journalism classes, written for EJ Magazine or Great Lakes Echo, assisted in an environmental journalism television production or been involved with other environmental journalism activities are also eligible. Students and faculty can also nominate other students. Award winners will receive a plaque and cash award and be recognized at the J-School award ceremonies.
Rachel Carson Award for Outstanding Graduate Student in Environmental Journalism
Named after early environmentalist and author Rachel Carson, this award is given to the top graduate students in environmental journalism. Application.
Edward J. Meeman Award in Environmental Journalism
Named after crusading environmental journalist Edward Meeman, this award is given to the top undergraduate students in environmental journalism. Application.
Knight Center for Environmental Journalism Service Award
This is an annual award given to one or more students who have made outstanding contributions to environmental journalism at MSU. Application.
