Becky McKendry is an undergraduate senior at Michigan State University studying journalism with a concentration in editorial reporting. With almost eight years of professional publishing experience, she has previously worked for a variety of media outlets – as a production assistant for the WKAR radio news program “Current State,” a sports columnist for the Marshalltown Chronicle, an interviewer for author Chuck Palahniuk’s official website and more. Currently, she also works as Assistant Bureau Chief for the newswire Capital News Service, with a focus on covering the civil rights and human services, primarily for the Metro Detroit and Lansing areas.
Greg Monahan is a graduate journalism student and a member of Michigan State’s Knight Center for Environmental Journalism. He received his undergraduate degree in broadcasting from Grand Valley State University, and worked in professional sports for two seasons with the West Michigan Whitecaps and Detroit Red Wings before returning to school. Currently, Greg reports for Great Lakes Echo and helps manage their social media accounts. He is also the on-field emcee for the Lansing Lugnuts.
Evan Kreager is a senior studying journalism at Michigan State University with a concentration in environmental reporting. Kreager has reporting experience on a variety of topics in Ireland and the United Kingdom, and now spends his time focusing on environmental news in the Great Lakes basin.
Andrea Raby is a junior journalism major specializing in documentary studies and design. Andrea manages the Knight Center website. She is also the technology manager for Capital News Service, editor in chief of The Big Green and a research assistant for Professor Geri Alumit Zeldes on various documentary projects.
Christine Carmichael is a PhD student in MSU’s Department of Forestry and is also pursuing a graduate specialization in Gender, Justice, and Environmental Change and graduate certificate in Community Engagement. She earned a Master of Public Affairs and MS in Environmental Science from Indiana University in 2010, and a BA in Political Science from MSU in 2006. Her research interests include community engagement in forest-related issues, participatory research with diverse groups, animal studies, and media coverage of environmental issues.
